Hi, guy
Got here via BROL.
I am interested in Hennessy Hammocks too. But don't want to drop $125 or more to buy one.

Re bugs: Campmore sells a twin bug enclosure for $10 (+S&H)Might save a lot of sewing.

Did you make your hammock with the asym type design? If so, can you really lie fairly flat?

The bike is looking good.

No, it isn't asymetrical and yes you can lie "flat." I often lie asymetrically in the hammock and I often lie half in half out kin of on my side but not really. You can get some strange yet comfortable position in the Speer hammock.

For more info in Speer Hammocks and making your own check out:

There are a lot of guys on that forum who make thier own hammock and tarps and such. A lot of them make all kinds as additions to the Hennessy set up. Check out the photo section.

If I make another hammock I'd probably combine certain aspects from both the Speer and Hennessey hammocks.

At any rate, buy Ed Speer's book:

Making your own hammock is a great way to start. The Hennessey I wanted was the Safari Deluxe. It's for people over 6 feet tall and can support 350lbs. I don't weight that much but I like overkill. But costs $199. My hammock cost $53.12 minus the bug netting which I'm not using at the moment.
